Can Advertisments say what they want

Point of Advertising

The point of advertsing is to get people introduced to a product which might be a new product or a product which needs promoting and this is done through advertisments. Advertising helps the businesses by increasing their sales figures by alot by fimilarising the viewers of the advert with that new product. There are 70,000 jobs in the advertising industry and these are most likely to increase with the growing demands of adverts. Advertising also makes us loyal to certain brands for example if there is a brand that the customer trusts and uses then if the customer would want to go out and buy the latest product which that brand has released and this would make that customer loyal to that brand because it would make that customer loyal to that brand. Advertising also tells customers how much a product costs and if the product is suitable for their needs. Adverts cannot compare their brand or their product with a similar product in the same field becuase this can result that advert getting banned or the other brand sueing them. Advertising also makes you aware of different brands which the customers might not know about and after watching the adverts, the customers would know of those brands.

Most of the adverts would try and protray a perfect white family to show their viewers that the when or if they use their products then their familys would seem like the perfect family aswell and they would want that and thats the reason which the people might want to buy their product.

1930's Smoking Advert

The smoking advert suggests that smoking their cigeretts would mean that it would be safe for their throat to smoke their ciggeretts rather then the normal cigerettes because it wouldnt do them any harm. The smoking advert also protrays that the lady on the advert has a quite a weathy lifestyle because she is playing tennis and that she is smoking cigeretts. The advert is misleading because of that because the statistics clearly prove them wrong.

Malteasers Advert

The malteasers advert suggests that if you eat malteasers then you would get slimmer which is clearly incorrect. This would be false advertising and this would mean that they are advertising their product by giving out false and incorrect information to their potential customers and this would mean that the results of this would be incorrect and this would mean that the people would complain about this.

Adverts cannot say what they want because the adverts have to meet the rules and regulations of the ASA. The example of this would be the adverts which have been banned for not meeting those regulations and rules for example, this IKEA advert which has been banned by the ASA for not being suitable for its viewing audience. ASA helps keep the adverts which are offensive or inapporiate off the television and this keeps the audience safer and helps make the TV safer.

Is the advert Persuasive or Joyful?

The cadburys animation is made to show a happy town where everyone does their job and they are happy doing that job and that the product which they are trying to sell is made their as-well and they have done this to make their target audience think that when they eat the cadburys chocolate, they will feel like they are in that happy place, this has been done to make their audience happy and when the audience are happy then they would want to buy the product even though it is not how the product is made.

This advert uses dull and dark colours in the starting of the advert to create a in a sense a serious atmosphere. then the advert shows the well known co compare actor who near the end of the advert lightens up the mood by his singing. The advert is aimed at anyone who is looking for cheaper insurance on their home or vehicles. The choice of music at the start of the advert is dull and boring which then turns to lively music.

Advert Structure

In this unit i am researching adverts and making my own advert and in order to do this i would need to understand the structure of the adverts and stragetys that are used starting with narritive.

Advertising is when the business promotes a product using media and this would mean that they would try and promote a product or a service through the media advertisement. The adverts would vary from the time of day which it is shown on TV and the target audience for the advert.

Advert Structures
The adverts structures are how the adverts are laid out and the type of the advert is by checking the category of the advert and the layout of the advert. The structure of an advert shows who the advert is aiming at and how it is trying to reach its audience. Structures of the advert can be decected by how they are laid out and what type of audience they are aiming to target and how they can change with the adverts.

Narritive
Nattitive adverts have a story and they have a beggining middle and an end and they are almost like a movie and they have a narritive behind him. Narritive adverts usually have true stories which the people might findthem selves in and narrive adverts dont usally have special effects in them and becuase they are fact based. An example of a narrative advert would the home finder app advert.
This advert has captured the view of how people find themself in these kind of situations and this narriates how they can get ouf these problems.

Realist Advert.
This types of advert would use facts and figures which they have actually collected to show how many people prefer their product which they are advertising over the one which they might normally use. This type of advert might also show a solution to a potential common problem which the people might have and this type of advert would show that they can solve that problem by using their product. These often use a celebrity so that the people would know that even famous people get this problem and they have solved it with the advertised product.

Animation Advert
This type of advert is usually made to attract kids attention or they have used the animation to make the advert funny to engage its audience but it mostly attracts kids and the product which they are advertising is usually for kids. They have used bright colours to attract the attention of the kids which might be watching the advert and this makes them want what the people are using and eating in the advert and it also creates kind of a joyful and happy atmosphere for its audience.
